About Dark Sweden

Dark Sweden is run by volunteers eager to stand up to the injustices and anti-democratic activities of authorities documented in Sweden.

Set up by Monika van den Brink:

“We got to know Sweden as a wonderful country with beautiful people, since our move in 2016. Everywhere we turned we found people we could have a laugh with. Nature and the sailing are amazing. We have relished the outdoor life this country has allowed us and the freedoms and independence our kids have had.”

The UN Declaration and the European Convention stated that the right to private and family life is a fundamental human right that all civilised democratic societies should respect and protect.

Dark Sweden was born out of desperation, when good parents, in the face of extreme teenage rebellion, had their 3 children removed from their care. The children aged (8, 12 and 13) had been moved around foster homes, were not all together and had been provided little emotional support (no counselling) to cope with being ripped from their stable family home.

There had been a thorough police investigation and all charges against the parents were dropped after 7 weeks. Yet, the children were no closer to being allowed to return home.

The children were held in custody of the state under the Swedish provision of LVU (custody for protection of children and young people). The LVU gives authorities incredible and unbelievable powers to retain children.

The parents hit brick walls as they try to prove good parenting ability, significantly better than what the children were being put through in different foster homes and youth group homes.

This video, as the parents found out, has too many truths to it:

The names on this site have been changed to protect the identity of the children, but the facts remain the same.

Through the Dark Sweden site we hear about more and more stories where the Social Services have been allowed to intervene in family life in incredibly disproportionate ways. We vow to bring you the truth and highlight failings in a system that is built on ignorance by the general public, ideological principles dating back decades if not centuries.

Enough is enough of Sweden being used as an example of how perfect a country can be! Let us show you the dark side, what’s under the shiny surface!

If you have a story you want to share with us and are happy for us to review documents related to the issue, please get in touch.

The purpose of the Dark Sweden site is to share information, fact-checked and accurate as far as possible, and ultimately, initiate a change in Sweden for improved child and family support.
